ESCATEC is on-track to soon complete a major upgrade of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system across all its production sites, in a project seen as vitally important to boost the Group’s competitiveness and to position it for future growth.
In parallel with this strategic initiative, ESCATEC continues to invest in its systems, business processes, and employees, ensuring a robust foundation for improved customer service, operational excellence, and employee development.
ESCATEC’s business units in the UK, Czech Republic, and Bulgaria, are already operating on the new ERP system, while its business units in Malaysia and Switzerland are scheduled to go ‘live’ in August 2024.
The new system enables all ESCATEC production facilities to be integrated on a cloud-based platform, and features significantly improved functionality, security, traceability, scalability, the ability to communicate electronically with customers and suppliers, and facilitates the adoption of industry best practices.
An ERP system is a comprehensive software solution designed to streamline and integrate core business processes, which can include finance, procurement, manufacturing, inventory management, and customer relationship management. For an electronics manufacturer like ESCATEC, an efficient and robust ERP system is vital to optimise operations, maximise productivity, and ensure quality control, throughout the production cycle.
“Through this project, ESCATEC is reaffirming its commitment to innovation, scalability, and excellence in the global EMS industry,” states Chief Financial Officer Roman Ziegler, who characterised the project as requiring meticulous attention to detail, comprehensive testing and verification of data, and extensive coordination and training of multiple teams at each site.
He attributes the project’s on-time rollout to the project team’s effectiveness, their deep understanding of electronics-related manufacturing operations, and their extensive engagement with colleagues and other stakeholders at all ESCATEC sites.
While ESCATEC has taken great care to minimise inconvenience to customers and suppliers as the project began and progressed, Roman acknowledges that, as with any ERP roll-out projects, there remains a risk that unforeseen developments may occur as the project proceeds on the remaining roll-out in Malaysia and Switzerland.
“Please do keep us informed if you as a stakeholder face any inconveniences as we complete the migration in Malaysia and Switzerland,” said Roman, stressing that ESCATEC is committed to making the process trouble-free for its stakeholders.
