Developing the best - nurturing our future generation of engineers

Written by Jessica Plank | 27 Feb, 2017

In a world and industry that is changing so rapidly, the need to harness the development of young talent is arguably more important than ever.

Of course, it is important to ensure access to training facilities and quality education is available to all members of our younger generation but is this really enough to prepare our future engineers for the real world?

I would argue that it's not. As mentors, teachers, role models, parents, friends or any other relation we inherit the responsibility of not only educating our future leaders but also of nurturing their personal development. A combination that can turn the good into the great. Preparation is key after all!

In this post on LinkedIn Patrick Pouyanne, Chairman and CEO at Total shares his own thoughts on what skills and character traits tomorrow's engineers will need.

“In today's very open and rapidly changing world, an engineer also needs to demonstrate persistence, boldness, team spirit and leadership”
